Workshop Electric Bass Guitar
The EHB1006MS is a six-string, multi-scale EHB series solid-body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2022. It is made in Indonesia as part of the Ibanez Bass Workshop line.
The new EHB design features a chambered body double-cutaway body shape with a prominent upper horn and a deep lower scoop. The chambered body has an ergonomic design with a slanted back to enable the player to maintain a similar playing position whether seated or standing.
The EHB1006MS features a multi-scale headless design with an American basswood body bolted to a graphite-reinforced roasted maple and walnut neck with a Roasted Birdseye Maple fingerboard with 24 stainless steel fanned frets, offset abalone dot position markers, and luminescent side dots. Components include individual Monorail V HS bridges with adjustable string spacing, a pair of T1 humbucking pickups passive pickups, a detachable finger ramp, a Vari-mid 3-band EQ with EQ bypass switch, a locking Neutrik output jack, and Schaller S-Lock strap pins.
The EHB1506MS is a similar model with a poplar burl top.
The top half of the back of the body is slanted which allows the bass to rest slightly closer to the player’s body for better control and a more ergonomic feel.
Its contoured, ergonomic design and chambered body make for a lightweight, well-balanced, and comfortable instrument that’s excellent for long sets or practice session.
The T1 pickup is a humbucker featuring two separate, individually mounted coils that provides tight bass response, punchy mid-range, and clear high-end. It offers flexible voicing suitable for various genres, and the height of each coil can be set individually for highly nuanced adjustments to the tone. On top of its great sound, the physical design features rounded edges for enhanced ergonomic comfort when using the pickup as a thumb rest. Moreover, the individually mounted coils allow them to be positioned slightly offset from one another. This makes it so the surface of the pickup where the player rests their thumb is directly parallel with the strings, which is not typical with most multi scale basses. This design greatly enhances the comfort and playability of the instrument.
The Vari-mid 3-band EQ features a variable mid-frequency control which allows you to dial in an incredibly wide range of sounds. There is also an EQ bypass switch for passive operation with the treble control acting as a passive tone control when the EQ is bypassed.
The MR5HS bridge is designed especially for the EHB basses and features wide intonation range. Each bridge piece is independently and securely attached to the body for maximum vibration transfer, and the saddles are adjustable for string spacing +/-1.5mm, answering every bassist’s individual string spacing demands, no matter what playing style. Teflon washers are used on each tuner for a smooth tuning action.

CONTROLS
With the bass held in the playing position, there are three small knobs located towards the lower edge of the body. Directionally, from the lower bout towards the neck these knobs control treble boost/cut, mid boost/cut, and bass boost/cut knob. Above these are two larger knobs closer to the bridge. Of these, the knob closest to the end of the body is the pickup balance, and the knob located towards the neck is the volume knob. There are two switches on this bass. The switch closest to the lower edge of the body is a 3-way mid frequency switch. When the switch is in neck position, mid boost peak is at 250Hz. When the switch is in center position, mid boost peak is at 450Hz. When the switch is in bridge position, mid boost peak is at 800Hz. The other switch closer to the middle of the bass is the EQ bypass switch. When the switch is in neck position, the EQ is off. When the switch is in bridge position, EQ is on. When EQ is off, the treble knob works as a passive tone control knob.
FREQUENCY RESPONSE
The bass boost/cut frequency curve has a peak at about 20 Hz, the variable width becomes smaller as it goes to the high range, and the variable width becomes zero at around 1000 Hz. The variable range of the peak frequency is approximately ±20 dB. The treble boost/cut frequency curve draws a curve with a peak at around 20000 Hz and a variable width of zero near 100 Hz. The variable range of the peak frequency is approximately ±20 dB. The mid-boost/cut frequency curve creates a bell-shaped curve that peaks at a specific frequency, and the variable range becomes zero near 20 Hz and around 10,000 Hz. The frequency peak varies from around 100 Hz to around 6000 Hz. The variable range of the peak frequency is approximately ±15 dB.
